My mother, Mary Anne, came to visit. It was ever so wonderful. She gets younger every year, just like her son. (Little sister Kat decided to stay home alone in Washington, because she had a lot of "homework". Sure... homework.)
We took baby Reisfar to the Portland Art Museum. She seemed to enjoy herself, kicking and punching inside her mamma. Her Dad was scolded by security for getting to close to a Degas (closer than six inches). I asked the short hairy man, who had been watching me like a hawk as soon as I entered the room, if there were any rules about smelling the art, he said no.
Later Sheareen took time to sit on a bench, enjoying the best work in the museum, our baby visibly kicking at her belly! Strangers walked by and paused to say "Now thats Art". I told them they had to stay at least six inches away from the belly, but smelling Sheareen was O.K.
All and all it was a wonderful little visit. I wouldn't be the painter I am today without the countless lessons my mother has taught, and continues to teach me. What an amazing woman my child will grow up to be, with so many wonderful strong women in her life!

PS. (from Sheareen)- Alex sold another painting while we were enjoying the museum!
