Shower star!
Uncle Max
Baby Shower
We had a shower in Bend at our friend Amy's house- it was great! Lots of people were missed and we look forward to seeing those people when the baby arrives! The picture of us reading a card from Lisa in London and I was in shock and overjoyed to have her energy from so far away! Tracy, who lives in LA sent a baby CD and the one baby there enjoyed it soooo much (pic of him below!) Cath surprised me with getting a b-day gift and she sent money to have goodies at the shower! I am so lucky to have such great friends! not to mention all the people that were there- I mean, Jesse, one of Alex's old friends brought a Diaper Genie! who would have thunk!! I was utterly surprised by that one!!
Lucky me!!

She is growing!
I have got the Diabetes thing under control so far and am very happy about that. I am actually measuring small which is good with G.D. because the babies can get too big and cause problems with labor and later in their own lives! Do not want that for the little one! I think I am only borderline G.D. but will still take it very seriously - my numbers have been great! yeah for good food- thank god for Alex- he knows how to make everything taste incredible!

Gestational Diabetes
Every woman is tested for Gestational Diabetes at around 28 weeks- I was no exception, and unfortunately, I have it. :-( What does this mean? well, NO SNICKERS at Halloween! How unfair was that?!!!!! Actually, no sugar and not many carbs a day. Suddenly, my favorite foods: eggs, cheese and spinach are all really boring because I HAVE to eat them! LAME!!! And if you are reading this, you probably know how much I covet that morning cup of tea with honey, well, morning is when I can have the least carbs, so the honey amount is dismal! BUT.... I love this little girl and I will do my best to do this right. The hardest thing was finding out and then not being given any direction for almost a week!! The order for a dietician was never sent by the doctors office and then people were off for a few days, how dare someone take off when I have this shit and have no idea how to eat! What a week! So we finally got to see a Dietician on Friday and she gave me a monitor, which was very exciting for me because I am a control freak and had no idea what my levels were like all week. I tested myself for the first time and low and behold, it was high! I realized, about an hour after agonizing about how on earth I was to eat when I thought I had been good, that I had had some delicious Pomegranate at lunch and that was most likely what triggered it.....SOOOOOOOO for all you out there reading this, be happy that you can enjoy the sweet things in life- like fruit and honey!! I MISS THEM SO MUCH ALREADY! I guess I can blame my parents for naming me Sheareen, which in Farsi means "sweet"!

GRANDMA VISIT!! ~October 26th~
My mother, Mary Anne, came to visit. It was ever so wonderful. She gets younger every year, just like her son. (Little sister Kat decided to stay home alone in Washington, because she had a lot of "homework". Sure... homework.)
We took baby Reisfar to the Portland Art Museum. She seemed to enjoy herself, kicking and punching inside her mamma. Her Dad was scolded by security for getting to close to a Degas (closer than six inches). I asked the short hairy man, who had been watching me like a hawk as soon as I entered the room, if there were any rules about smelling the art, he said no.
Later Sheareen took time to sit on a bench, enjoying the best work in the museum, our baby visibly kicking at her belly! Strangers walked by and paused to say "Now thats Art". I told them they had to stay at least six inches away from the belly, but smelling Sheareen was O.K.
All and all it was a wonderful little visit. I wouldn't be the painter I am today without the countless lessons my mother has taught, and continues to teach me. What an amazing woman my child will grow up to be, with so many wonderful strong women in her life!
-Alex the Dad
PS. (from Sheareen)- Alex sold another painting while we were enjoying the museum!
Family Ties- it is on the website www.AlexReisfar.com

Ultra Sound- 5 months-ish
There she is, and once again, she was moving all over when the tech was doing the scan! I think she has Alex's nose!
It is so cool to see her and even more amazing to hear her heart beat! We did have a doctors appointment yesterday and got to hear her heart beat again, which was 150 if I remember correctly and the most amazing sound ever!
Alex mentioned hearing her little voice soon! ahhh, I can not wait to hear her giggle!
While we watched a movie the other night, my cat, Iron, was sitting on my tummy and when the baby moved, Iron's little ears twitched, she turned her head and she sort of looked out of the corner of her eyes like "what was that, did I just feel something"!! really cute.

movement!
So I have been feeling the little one move since about September 1st and Alex has been able to feel her since the end of September and NOW......right now, as we begin this blog thing, she is moving in a way that we can actually SEE! It is cute because she reacts to Alex's voice.
We can not wait to meet her and have her kick one of you!!
